Designed with Safety in Mind
ACD was started with the safety of every man and woman who work on the waterways of this country in mind. Several injuries and life threatening situations can happen on barges. With over 65 years of experience in the barging industry, our team came up with a solution to improve safety while on board. This
patent pending device can help save lives and keep mariners and deckhands safe.
The Anti-Crushing Device (ACD) sits at the bow and stern of each barge, and is readily available for a worker exposed to a man overboard event with crushing possibilities. The patent pending block is securely fitted into our uniquely designed cage for easy location identification, and out of the way for daily tasks. When a deckhand or operator goes into the water, the ACD is deployed with a quick toss in, and anchored by stainless steel cable, and recoiling spring. The ACD can withstand over 60,000 LBS of pressure, eliminating the barges from coming together. This product will help prevent the crushing of deckhands on tank barges, empty loads, loaded hopper, docks and terminals and covered barges. The risk of man overboard is real. The product gives the user lifesaving options when seconds count.
The river industry is a rugged environment. Typically, every year, six to eight deckhands fall into the water when fleeting or locking or building tow. These have ended in lost work time, insurance claims, or fatalities. We have created a product that can be mounted on each barge, deployed into the water to prevent the barge or vessel from coming together and causing severe injuries to mariners or dock workers. Mounted on the ends and middle of each barge or dock, it gives us something to deploy quickly when seconds count.
Rugged and reliable, made from American red oak, it can be deployed by a coworker when it’s needed to save lives. The device can be handled by one individual, quickly and safely. High visibility PU coatings, 3M scotchlite reflective tape, and stainless-steel attachments is sure to enhance safety for all mariners and gives them and lifesaving option they’ve never had before. It can be use at docks and terminals and loaded or empty barges. Where two pieces of equipment are coming together, an ACD should be nearby.
The ACD serves a purpose in just about every water transportation industry
